The documentary Point d’équilibre at the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie 2026

Next March, the documentary Point d’équilibre will be screened in theaters as part of the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie 2026. This is an opportunity to (re)discover, on the big screen, the demanding daily lives of young dancers in the professional training program at the École supérieure de ballet du Québec.

An invitation to discover the film across the country

From March 1 to 31, 2026, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is participating in Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie with a free program of films presented in every province and territory. This national initiative aims to make French-language cinema accessible to Francophones and Francophiles from coast to coast.
In this context, we are proud to see that Point d'équilibre is included in Program 2 and will be screened in theaters in Montreal, Brossard, Ottawa, and even Iqaluit!

A look at a pivotal moment

Directed by Christine Chevarie-Lessard (2018, 76 minutes), Point d’équilibre follows students aged 11 to 14 as they take their first steps in the professional program at the École supérieure.
The documentary focuses on a decisive stage: the moment when childhood meets the demands of a structured artistic career. Through classes, rehearsals, and breaks, the film captures the learning, doubts, and enthusiasm that accompany this transition. Beyond dance, it highlights the discipline, perseverance, and self-construction that mark this journey.

A screening that is part of a collective movement

Point d’équilibre’s presence at Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie is part of a program that celebrates the vitality of French culture across Canada. By reaching diverse audiences—in both urban and rural areas—the film helps raise awareness about professional dance training and encourages reflection on how to support young artists.
