
Two ESBQ talents named personalities of the year
Quebec's cultural scene shines thanks to exceptional careers. We are proud to celebrate two ambassadors of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec: Gabriel Beaupré, a promising student named one of the cultural personalities of the year by Hebdo Rive Nord, and our graduate Janie Richard, recognized by La Revue as a cultural personality of Lanaudière as an important figure in contemporary dance.
Gabriel Beaupré – Rising star
From a young age, Gabriel Beaupré has had a deep passion for dance, which has led him to the stage at Place des Arts. Now a student in the professional program at the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, he stands out for his determination, talent, and unique personality. In 2025, he was named a finalist for Personnalités de l’année – Culture by Hebdo Rive Nord, a wonderful recognition of his involvement in the cultural community and his potential for a brilliant professional career. His daily commitment and promising performances promise a very inspiring future in the world of dance.
Janie Richard – Inspiring graduate and committed creator
A 2007 graduate of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, Janie Richard has carved out a remarkable international career as a performer, choreographer, and producer. Recognized for her inclusive vision of dance and her commitment to young artists, she received the prestigious CALQ Award – Artist of the Year in Lanaudière in 2025, a distinction honoring her career and creative impact. Over the years, Janie has promoted Quebec dance through her own creations and collaborations, while inspiring new generations of dancers through her work and artistic leadership. She was recently named Cultural Personality of the Year by La Revue magazine.
