The École supérieure’s Foundation Supports the Next Generation of Dancers
On September 24, 2026, the École supérieure de ballet du Québec and its Foundation brought together donors, students and families for the 3rd edition of the Named Scholarships Ceremony. The gathering gave students and their parents an opportunity to meet the donors who believe in their talent and make a meaningful contribution to their artistic journey.
Hosted by Anik Bissonnette, Artistic Director of the École supérieure, and Etienne Lavigne, Co-Chair of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, the ceremony highlighted the tangible impact of philanthropy on the journey of the École supérieure’s young dancers.
Lasting Commitments That Shape the Future
Named scholarships are made possible by donors who, through a gift of $5,000 or more, choose to name a scholarship in honour of a person or organization. This meaningful gesture creates a lasting legacy of support for a young dancer’s journey while carrying forward values of passion, excellence and generosity year after year.
The Tribute Scholarship was created to recognize the generosity of all donors who support the Foundation’s mission throughout the year. It also provides an opportunity to honour an outstanding member of the École supérieure community.
This year, the Tribute Scholarship honours Myriam Simon. A former étoile dancer with the Stuttgart Ballet, she returned to Montréal as a principal dancer with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens. Since 2023, she has shared her passion and expertise with the next generation as a teacher at the École supérieure de ballet du Québec.
Support That Makes a Difference for Young Artists
The scholarships awarded this year reflect the commitment of numerous partners and donors to supporting the talent, perseverance and passion of the students. The ceremony also gives young artists an opportunity to recognize that behind every gift are people, stories and acts of generosity that bring deeper meaning to their journey and encourage them to pursue their dreams.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, nearly $70,000 in named scholarships were awarded to 39 ESBQ students.
