Two students from the ESBQ are joining Les Grands Ballets Canadiens for the 2026–2027 season
The École supérieure de ballet du Québec is pleased to announce that two of its students have been hired by Les Grands Ballets Canadiens for the 2026–2027 season.
Katrina Lungu, a graduate of the Class of 2026, and Maëlys Dauplet-Lalaus have both been hired as apprentices with the company.
These appointments are a testament to the talent, discipline, and dedication they have demonstrated throughout their training.
“My dreams took shape in the studios of the École supérieure de ballet du Québec, where I learned discipline and perseverance, while shaping the person I have become every day. Thanks to the School, I also had the opportunity to dance with renowned companies such as Les Grands Ballets and Ballet BC, and to experience firsthand the life of an artist.”
— Katrina Lungu
For Katrina, this first professional experience marks the culmination of 11 years of training. For Maëlys, this opportunity represents an exceptional recognition of her artistic potential, as the 18-year-old student is finishing her studies at ESBQ a year ahead of schedule!
Starting next season, Anaïs Roy, a 2023 graduate, and Benjamin Poirier, a 2024 graduate, will be promoted to the rank of demi-soloists with Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
These promotions highlight the strong potential for professional success among artists trained at the ESBQ and the enduring ties between the School and its sister company.
The entire ESBQ team congratulates Katrina, Maelys, Anaïs, and Benjamin and wishes them every success in their future careers.
Many of these artists have benefited, during their training, from the support of the ESBQ Foundation, whose scholarships and initiatives help nurture the next generation in their artistic and professional development.
